The Sakauye Farm

The Sakauye Farm was an active farm owned by the same family from about 1904 until recently sold to a developer for residential and commercial development. A park with the suggested name of Eiichi Edward Sakauye Park will be part of the project. It will contain open space, recreational equipment and an interpretive area detailing the history of the Sakauye family and its farming activities.

Within the Sakauye Farm Historic District 19 buildings, some contributing and others non-contributing, were documented. The resulting HABS CA-3012 project will be archived at the Library of Congress Prints and Photography Collection with an additional copy at the San Jose Public Library.

Five days of on-site work was required to fully capture the project site spread out on about 22 acres.
